Königsallee, 1996

All images are type-c-prints mounted through diasec to perspex, oakwood framed to a size 85 x 125 cm. The series is made to correspond by motiv and meaning with its counterpart "Normannenstrasse".

In 1982, the GDR was threatened with insolvency. It was largely saved from this by billion-euro West German loans in 1983 and 1984 directed by Helmut Kohl, supervised by Deutsche Bank. In the early summer of 1996, I gained access to the historically important branch of Deutsche Bank in Düsseldorf, which had served as the headquarters for Supervisory Board Chairman Dr. F. Wilhelm Christians for many years and where decisions regarding these loans were presumably also made.
